"Reverse Racism" Caption Contest
The very excellent Liza Sabater (aka @blogdiva) is holding a caption contest to slap certain right-wing windbags for accusing Supreme Court Justice Nominee Sonia Sotomayor of "reverse racism."
1) First of all, if they bothered to read more than the 30 words taken out of context, they'd see she was arguing in favor of as much judicial neutrality as a human can bring to the bench.
2) Racism is an institutional system that excludes certain groups from political and economic power. There's no such thing as "reverse racism" because the power dynamics only go in one direction. (HINT: It's not from Latina > White.)*
Here's the photo that I'm submitting for the contest:
(Thanks to ROFLBOT for their caption-adding awesomeness.)
* Note: In case you're curious, a word that can apply in either direction is "prejudice."
